
CofC?s Emily Smith Sets High Jump Mark at Niswonger Invitational

JOHNSON CITY, TENN. ? College of Charleston Track and Field athlete Emily Smith (Rock Hill, S.C.) set the school record in the high jump during day one of the Niswonger Invitational held on the campus of East Tennessee State University on Friday.
Smith, who finished tied for first in the high jump in the first two events the Cougars participated in on the year, won the event with a record 1.74-meter effort. Smith took the event in a jump-off against a competitor from Marshall.
Smith, who was named the Southern Conference Track & Field Athlete of the Week this past week, also missed an NCAA Provisional Mark by .25m.
Action at the Niswonger Invitational will conclude on Saturday.
