The Clemson men's tennis team defeated the College of Charleston 7-0 in a men's intercollegiate tennis match at Hoke Sloan Tennis Center on Wednesday.
With the win, Clemson improved to 7-6 overall. The Cougars fell to 2-6 this spring. The Cougars host Chattanooga at 2:00 on Thursday.
Clemson clinched the doubles point when Gera Boryachinskiy and Robert Pietrucha defeated Omer Abramovich and Steven Myers of the College of Charleston 9-8 at the number two position.
Clemson's Ike Belk defeated Joe Nicolazzi at number six singles 6-2, 6-4 to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead. Kevin Fleck gave the Tigers a 3-0 advantage when he defeated Tom Delme at number four singles 6-3, 6-1.
The Tigers clinched the match when Kevin Galloway defeated Mickael Trintignac 6-3, 6-2 at number five singles.
Clemson won the top three singles positions. Carlos Alvarez of Clemson defeated Omer Abramovich 6-1, 6-3 at number one singles. Rok Bizjak defeated the Cougars' Mickael Boyer 6-1, 1-6, 6-2 at number three singles to give the Tigers a 6-0 lead. Boryachinskiy won over Lukas Koncilia of the College of Charleston 7-6, 6-2 at the number two singles position.
This was the 33rd meeting between the two schools on the tennis courts. Clemson now leads the series 23-10. The series first started in the 1930 season.
