The College of Charleston men's tennis team upset 67th-ranked Appalachian State, 7-0, in Southern Conference action at the Tennis Center at Patriots Point on Friday.
The Cougars, who have won two in a row, improved to 4-6 overall and 2-0 in league play. The Mountaineers, who had their five-match win streak snapped, fell to 9-4 and 1-2.
The Cougars opened the day by sweeping all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead.
In singles play, Lukas Koncilia beat Bobby Lake 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1, Omer Abramovich defeated Tent Constance 6-3, 6-0, Tom Delme bested Peter Jacobs 6-1, 6-0 and Mickael Boyer downed Lee Floyd 7-6, 6-0.
Mickael Trintignac earned a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Philip Kloc at No. 5, while Joe Nicolazzi closed out the shutout with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Alain Hamblet at No. 6.
The Cougars play at Elon at 2:00 on Tuesday.
