CHARLESTON, S.C. ? The College of Charleston men's tennis team knocked off cross town rival The Citadel this afternoon, 5-2 in Southern Conference action at the Earle Tennis Center.
With the win, the Cougars improved to 8-13, 5-5 in the Southern Conference, while The Citadel fell to 8-12, 1-7 in the conference. The Cougars return to action on Saturday when they travel to Charlotte for a 2 p.m. start.
Charleston got off to a solid start in doubles play taking two of three from the Bulldogs, then captured the match after winning four of the six singles matches contested.
At number one singles Omer Abramovich had a come-from-behind 3-6, 6-0, 2-1 (10-3) win over Yufo Sutantio, while Mickael Trintignac was a three-set winner as well, knocking off Martin King 1-6, 6-0, 6-3.
In the number five spot, Mickael Boyer was a straight set winner (6-1, 6-1) over Derek Dickey, while at number six singles Joe Nicolazzi rounded out the day for the Cougars with yet another three-set win (2-6, 6-3, 6-2) over Frank Larkin.
