Cougars Finish Third at Davidson College Invitational

The College of Charleston men's golf team fired a 295 in the final round to finish third at the Davidson College Invitational held Oct. 18-19 at the River Run Country Club in Davidson, S.C. Wofford took home the trophy with a three-round total of 869, 13 strokes ahead of second-place Western Carolina. The Cougars were just a stroke back from the Catamounts with an 883.
"I'm happy with a top 10 finish for Seth (Stuart and Coy (Breen)," said head coach Mark McEntire. "With John Duke (Hudson) and Alex (Ellis) not putting up their usual numbers, it was good to see our number three and four golfers step up to give us a solid third. If all four of them can put it all together I think we can do well at the Turtle Point."
Terrier Brent Whitehead won individual medalist honors with a four-under par 212, while Radford's Weston Eklund placed second with a 213.
Leading the Cougars was Seth Stuart (Austin, Texas), who finished fifth with a 216. The Junior fired a 69 in the second round and a 68 in the third to finish even par for the tournament. Coy Breen (San Antonio, Texas) took 10th with a 218 and tied for 39th was Alex Ellis (Austin, Texas) with a 226.
John Duke Hudson (Sonora, Texas) tied for 43rd with a 227 and tied for 46th was Elliott Lopez (Chapin, S.C.) with a 228. Competing for the Cougars as an individual was Ross Tooley (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) who tied for 43rd with a 227.
Charleston travels next to Kiawah Island, S.C., Nov. 1-2, for the Kiawah Intercollegiate at Turtle Point Golf Course.
