
Havel Named SoCon Athlete of the Month

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - After earning back-to-back defensive player of the week honors and setting a school record for blocks in a match, junior Sarah Havel was named Defensive Athlete of the Month for October, by the Southern Conference.
Havel, a junior from Carmel, Ind., recorded a school recorded 17 blocks at Elon on Oct. 23. The mark also tied the Southern Conference record.
Havel totaled at least four blocks in every match of the month, including at least six blocks in six of 10 matches. She led the team in blocks in eight of the 10 matches this month and currently ranks third in the conference in blocks.
During October, Havel moved into the College of Charleston's all-time top 10 lists in solo blocks (ninth), block assists (seventh) and total blocks (10th). Havel currently has 304 blocks for her career.
Havel was one of eight student-athletes honored by the Southern Conference from all the fall sports.
