BOONE, N.C. - After being delayed a day by weather, the College of Charleston (11-3, 5-0) men's tennis team posted a hard fought 4-3 victory at Appalachian State (7-6, 0-3) to improve to 5-0 in Southern Conference play.

In doubles play, the combination of junior Lukas Koncilia (Tyrol, Austria) and sophomore Tom Delme (Hamoir, Belgium) were handed a rare loss at the No. 1 spot, 8-2, while Alain Humblet and Philip Kloc gave the Mountaineers the doubles point with an 8-6 victory at the No. 2 position. Junior Mickael Boyer (Meudon, France) and sophomore Mickael Trintignac (Le Cannet, France) earned an 8-6 victory at the third spot to round out doubles actions.

ASU increased their lead to 2-0 with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 4 by Humblet before sophomore John Harden (Atlanta, Ga.) notched a 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 decision over Ezekiel Sansing at No. 6 singles. That was the beginning of three straight victories as Trintignac posted a 7-4,7-6 (7-5) victory at the second position to tie the match at 2-2 and Delme earned a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 decision at No. 3 for a 3-2 lead.

Appalachian State's Andrew McKinnon then broke the streak and tied the match back at 3-3 with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 victory at the five spot. That left the match in the hands of Lukas Koncilia. After dropping the first set 5-7, the Tyrol, Austria native responded with a pair of 6-4 victories to clinch the match, 4-3, and run the Cougars record to 11-3 overall and a perfect 5-0 in league play.

The Cougars will be right back in action on Sunday, March 28 when they travel to Davidson for a 1 p.m. match.
