Cougars Finish 11th at Gridiron Classic

Seth Stuart (Austin, Texas) carded a 71 in the third round to post a 54-total 222, leading the College of Charleston to an 11th place finish with an 893 at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic held Sept. 27-28 at the Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind. #15th-ranked Iowa held off #41 Notre Dame, besting the Fighting Irish by six strokes, to take the tournament title with an 853.
#32 San Francisco placed third with an 860, while Houston and Lamar tied for fourth with an 871 each.
Taking Individual medalist honors were Ji Hwan Park and Taylor Travis, both from San Francisco. The duo both carded a 208 each, with Park posting a 68 and Travis a 69 in third round action.
Stuart finished in a tie for 31st to lead the Cougars after putting together one of the more consistent rounds, with three birdies, just one double-bogey and two bogeys.. Alex Ellis (Austin, Texas) tied for 35th with a 223 and tied for 44th was Coy Breen with a 225. John Duke Hudson tied for 55th after shooting a 227 and tied for 72nd was Ross Tooley (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) with a 233.
The Cougars have a quick turnaround with a trip to Tampa, Fla., Oct. 2-3 for the Gary Koch Intercollegiate, being held at the Ole Memorial Golf Course.
