AWENDAW, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's golf team shot the fourth best final round in the 15 team field as they moved up and finished in 13th place at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
The Cougars shot a round of even par as a team on the final day and had two individuals shoot under par for the final round. For the tournament the Cougars finished at 47-over and were six shots back of ninth place.
Duke claimed the team title as they shot 4-under in the final round and finished the tournament at 10-over par.
Freshman Josh Lorenzetti shot a 2-under 70 final round and was the Cougars top individual finisher as he was 8-over par for the tournament and finished tied for 22nd place. Lorenzetti had four birdies and one eagle on his scorecard for the final round, with an eagle on the par-five 10th hole.
Senior John Duke Hudson also shot under par in the final round as he carded a one-under 71 and finished 14-over and moved up 14 spots on the final day to finish tied for 47th place. Freshman Jackson Moore shot an even-par 70 in the final round and finished tied for 53rd at 16-over.
“We finally put together a solid round of golf,” CofC Head Coach Mark McEntire said. “I'm really proud of how Josh Lorenzetti and John Duke Hudson played and even-par for Jackson Moore was also a great round today. This is something that we can build on going forward.”
Up next the Cougars travel to Tampa, Fla., April 8-9 for the Gary Koch Invitational at the Old Memorial Golf Club.
