Cougars Defeat Jacksonville To Finish 3-1 On Weekend

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – College of Charleston sand volleyball defeated Jacksonville, 3-2, on the second day of the Jacksonville Sand Tournament to post a 3-1 mark on the weekend.
The Cougars are now 5-2 on the season, with both losses coming to UAB.
“This was a great team victory for us,” head coach Jason Kepner said. “We were able to pull out two big third sets to give us the win. The entire team battled hard against a much different host team from yesterday. It is great to leave Jacksonville with a 3-1 record.”
The Cougars won a three-set win in the second flight as Andi Zbojniewicz and Darcy Dorton won 17-21, 21-11, 15-8.
Charleston also won the third flight with Kelly Kolich and Emily Neideffer going three to win, 21-15, 22-24, 15-13.
Sloane White and Taeler Davis won the fourth flight, 21-12, 21-13, to clinch the dual victory.
The Cougars lost in the first flight, 19-21, 20-22, with Melissa Morello and Lizzie Theesfeld losing in two. Kallie McKown and Catey Warren lost in the fifth flight, 20-22, 11-21.
Charleston will face Tulane on Siesta Key, Fla., on April 12, before taking part in the Fiesta on Siesta tournament on April 13.
