RALEIGH N.C. – The College of Charleston women's tennis team fell on road Saturday to the No. 45-ranked Wolfpack of North Carolina State, 7-0, at the J. W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
The Wolfpack (5-0) are the third ITA top-100 opponent the Cougars (2-3) have faced this season and they got off to a quick start on Sunday, sweeping the doubles point despite a valiant effort from Kelly Kambourelis and Mara Argyriou on court two.
In singles play, Samantha Maddox and Brooke McAmis pushed their opponents to three sets, but it wasn't enough as the Wolfpack went on to win all six points.
“N.C. State is a very good tennis team,” said College of Charleston director of tennis Angelo Anastopoulo. “We competed hard from the outset, but we need to finish better and that is something we'll certainly work on in the run up to our next match.”
Next up for the College is a Friday, Feb. 21 home showdown with East Carolina at the College of Charleston Tennis Center at Patriots Point, where doubles play is set to begin at 1 p.m.
