CHARLESTON, S.C. – With the volleyball season nearly upon us, Head Coach Jason Kepner's 2014 team welcomes five freshmen to a squad that captured last season's CAA Championship. In the first of four installments to help you get to know CofC volleyball, we take a look at this year's highly-touted freshman class.
#20 Krissy Mummey // 6-3 // MB // Hudson, Ohio
• Nickname: Krissy

• Childhood Idol: Mia Hamm
• Place You'd Most Like to Visit: Australia
• Fun Fact: Krissy's picture was on the back of all Stouffer's frozen foods boxes for a year.
• Jason Kepner on Krissy: “Krissy is very long and has a lot of long levers. When all those levers work together, Krissy can play extremely high and be very dynamic. She reminds me a lot of (former Cougar and member of the 2014 Wall of Fame induction class) Sarah Havel in that way. Krissy is probably our best blocking middle and I'm extremely excited for her. She has a very positive attitude and works really hard – she is going to be a really good player for us.”

• Jason Kepner on Megan: “Megan is outstanding right now. She is extremely steady and has been playing very well for us in the preseason. She reads very well, passes very well and plays at an overall high level. I really think that she's developed faster than any of the freshman we have. She'll have an opportunity to play right away.”
#16 Mackenzie Cooler // 6-1 // S // Bluffton, S.C.

Childhood Idol: Hilary Duff

Fun Fact: Mackenzie has been practicing martial arts since she was a kid and is 1st degree black belt.
Jason Kepner on Mackenzie: “Mackenzie is our tallest setter and has the ability to play really high. She connects well with all of our hitters, which is one of the biggest challenges for freshman setters. Mackenzie will definitely have her opportunities to see game action and show what she's capable of.”

Jason Kepner on Olivia: “Olivia is a tall, powerful outside hitter. I think she has an opportunity to be a pretty big impact for us in the front row. She has some work to do with her ball control, but she is making big improvements and I'm really impressed with her offensive game – which is ready for the college level. She's a hard worker and we are really happy to have her here.”

Fun fact: Despite playing sports most of her life, Britney has never broken a bone
Jason Kepner on Britney: “Britney is coming off of a foot injury she sustained in the preseason, so I don't think she has had an opportunity to show us what she's fully capable of just yet. She's doing well to work her way back and I think the one thing that Britney has brought to this team is her speed. Britney is probably the fastest player on the team which allows her to get to more balls than just about anyone. She also has a very high vertical. Once she figures out how to use her athleticism in a defensive specialist role, she'll be a very good option for us.”
