College of Charleston senior sailor and team captain Beka Schiff (Tampa, Fla.) won the SAISA Women's Singlehanded Championship regatta on Oct. 4 in St. Petersburg, Fla. Sailing in four races and tallying the lowest score (five points) in the field, Schiff advanced to nationals for the third year in a row. It marked her first career victory at the inter-conference regatta in the Laser event. She will compete for a national title at the 2015 ICSA Men's and Women's Singlehanded Championships to be held on Nov. 6-8 in Norfolk, Va. Schiff also crewed A-Division this weekend with sophomore skipper Elizabeth Pemberton leading CofC to a runner-up finish at the SAISA Women's Fall Dinghy event also held on the same day and same venue.

Junior goalkeeper Kevin Shields, who is ranked 8th in the nation with 5.6 saves per game, made seven more saves in the Cougars 1-0 win over Drexel in his first shutout of the season. He now has made 35 saves in his first five starts since taking over the starting job. Shields' record improved to 2-2-1 as starter. He helped the Cougars to back-to-back CAA victories for the first time since 2013 and it was also the first road victory of the season.
