POSTGAME QUOTES

College of Charleston Head Coach Earl Grant

On the game …

“We talked about playing hard, competing and playing together. I thought our guys did a great job of doing all of those things well. I am proud of our effort. We play a lot of guys to try to maximize our depth. We like to play about 10 guys right now. It was a total team effort and a lot of guys contributed. We have to learn from our mistakes down the stretch, so when we get in that situation again, we can capitalize.”

On the end-of-the-game situation …

“In the last minute in a half, we had two unfortunate turnovers. Our guys tried to make plays and were confident. The ball, for whatever reason, didn't go our way.”

College of Charleston Junior Guard Canyon Barry

On the game …

“Davidson is a great team. You know what you are going to get when you come here to play them. I thought we fought really hard and I'm really proud of the guys on our team. But, we have to convert down the stretch. We had some turnovers down the stretch, missed some box outs and we let them back in. It's a tough one.”

On the second-half run and what was working for the team …

“It starts with defense. We really rationed it out. We were able to get a couple of bricks. They (Davidson) are a tough team. If you can box out and hold them to one shot or possession, it really helps. I thought we did that when we made our run. We came out of the half really strong, played a really good first four minutes and were able to cut that deficit. I thought we played really well from there-on-out and it came down to the last couple of minutes where we didn't come out on top.”

College of Charleston Junior Guard Payton Hulsey

On the loss …

“We played hard and gave it all of our effort. We have to learn from our mistakes and clean them up at the end of the game. We have to be able to finish the game out like we started the second half.”

On being able to get to the paint …

“Tonight, Davidson is such a good team, had some little guards and we tried to exploit the mismatch.”
