WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – College of Charleston track and field standouts Julisa Tindall and Tiffany Sisk claimed impressive individual event victories on Saturday to round out the 2015 Colonial Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Helping the Cougars to a seventh-place overall finish among eight teams, it was Tindall and Sisk who highlighted The College's efforts with wins in the high jump and shot put, respectively. Tindall's big day marks the sophomore's first career conference title, while for Sisk – one of the best throwers in program history – the victory is the Easley, S.C. native's third career conference crown.
“What a great day for Julisa and Tiffany,” said College of Charleston Head Coach Amy Seago. “I'm super proud of both of them for what they were able to accomplish here.”
Also standing out for the Cougars was the performance of senior RoShani Glover who finished second in the triple jump with a final mark of 12.06 meters.
“It was a tremendous effort from RoShani,” said Seago. “The way she was able to bounce back after a difficult indoor season says a lot about her ability to respond. I'm very proud of her.”
Performing well on the track for the Cougars were the exploits of Rachel Leder, Alexia Neal, and Cara Butcher, amongst others, all of whom represented well in the maroon and white.
Leder, a junior out of Greenville, S.C., ran a great race in the 100 meter hurdles, finishing with a fourth-place time of 14.34, while fellow sprinter Neal also had a bright day, finishing in seventh with a time of 15.22.
Leading the Cougars' talented corps of distance runners was sophomore Cara Butcher, who managed a fifth-place finish in the steeplechase.
“Overall, I'm proud of the way we performed,” said Seago. “We had expectations heading in to the weekend and for the most part we met those. It's rough being on the bottom end of the team standings, but we are making progress, have lots of tough competitors and I'm very proud of everyone.”
Next up for the Cougars is a trip small-squad trip to Coastal Carolina next weekend, followed by the Aggie Last Chance Invitational on Sunday, May 17.
