CHARLESTON, S.C. – After a challenging weekend in Malibu at the Oracle ITA Junior Masters, the College of Charleston women's tennis team will immediately re-immerse itself in high-level competition, this time at the ITA Carolinas Regionals in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Liza Fieldsend will once again represent the College, earning a berth in the main singles draw, which begins Friday. Newcomer Christi Woodson will also make the trek, acting as an alternate.
"With everything that was going on with Hurricane Matthew, it was tough for Liza to get properly prepared for Malibu," Director of Tennis Angelo Anastopoulo said. "Since then, we've had a good week of practice, and we're feeling confident. The first few rounds will be played outdoors, and I think that really plays to Liza's strengths."
Fieldsend's opening-round matchup will pit her against Anna Catherine Feaster, Davidson's top flight singles player last year. Feaster posted a 14-6 record in singles play, and lost only one of her final 12 matches of the season, posting eight wins and three unfinished matches in that time-span.
