11/10/2016 10:52:00 AM | Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country
CHARLESTON, S.C. - With the season starting to ramp up to the national stage in the coming weeks, the College of Charleston cross country program will look to make their mark on the region Friday when they take part in the NCAA Southeast Regional at Panorama Farms in Charlottesville, Va.
Two weeks ago, the men finished fourth and the women took seventh at the CAA Championships in Newark, Del. Tori Churchill paced the women to take 15th with a 6K time of 22:27.87, while Hayden DiBona led the Cougars with a 17th place finish in the 8K, crossing the finish line with a time of 26:55.35. For the women, this will be team's third consecutive 6K race of the season, but for the men, this is their first 10K all year.
Last season's race was at the same venue as this year, where the Cougar women finished 23rd. Of the College's seven racers in 2015, their Top 6 are all on the roster this year. Tori Churchill was the team's top finisher (22:58.1), finishing 93rd.
Of the Top 5 finishers for the men at last season's Southeast Regionals, three remain on the CofC roster. Of those who remain, Crew Kosiorek was the team's Top finisher with a time of 33:20.1 to take 169th. As a team, the College finished 30th.
The women are slated to kick things off on Friday at noon, while the men's race is set to follow at 1 p.m.
