WILMINGTON, N.C. – The College of Charleston volleyball team fell to UNC Wilmington, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon in Colonial Athletics Association play, as
McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) tallied a match-high 25 digs and
Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) posted 14 kills to pace three Cougars with double-digits in kills.
UNC Wilmington (17-11, 7-9 CAA) won the match by scores of 17-25, 25-23, 25-17, and 29-27, as the Seahawks recorded 57 kills, 66 digs and 12.5 blocks. College of Charleston (17-11, 10-6 CAA) tallied 56 kills, 75 digs and eight blocks in the contest.
Rachel led the attack with 14 kills and added 12 digs to account for her 14
th double-double of the season.
Krissy Mummey (Hudson, Ohio) and
Maddie Hills (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) tallied 11 and 10 kills, respectively, while
Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) dished out 41 assists and chipped in eight digs. Rhodes paced the defense with a match-high 25 digs, as
Kennedy Madison (Evansville, Ind.) posted nine kills and two blocks.
Maddy Kline recorded a double-double with 16 kills and 11 digs to lead the way for UNCW, as Nicole Lott tallied 14 kills and a team-high 22 digs. Kristen Powell posted 13 kills, while Alyssa Desjardins and Bella Borgiotti dished out 26 and 19 assists, respectively. Sydney Alvis was credited with 17 digs.
The Cougars now await the official pairings for the upcoming CAA Tournament, which will be hosted by UNCW in Hanover Hall on Nov. 18-20 in Wilmington, N.C.
