Cougars Host Eight Top 50 Teams at Briar's Creek Invitational

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's golf team will play host to eight Top 50-ranked teams at the Fourth Annual Briar's Creek Invitational on March 21-22 at The Golf Club at Briar's Creek on Johns Island, S.C.
No. 8 Florida, No. 12 Kent State, No. 20 Florida State, No. 26 Texas Tech, No. 30 Michigan State, No. 36 Louisville, No. 37 East Carolina and No. 47 Clemson make-up the competitive 18-team field along with Boston College, Campbell, Coastal Carolina, CofC, Indiana, Long Beach State, Maryland, Penn State, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.
The par-72, private golf community and course designed by Rees Jones will play at 6,036 yards.
The Cougars will start junior Laura Fuenfstueck (Langen, Germany), senior Morgan Webber (Moore, S.C.), senior Mary Chandler Bryan (Chapin, S.C.), senior Louise Olsson (Uddeholm, Sweden) and junior Vici Drechsler (Munich, Germany). Senior Stacey Tomlinson (Greeleyville, S.C.) will compete as one of three individuals in the field.
Florida is the reigning Briar's Creek Invitational champions and shot a tournament-low 866 (+2) to edge runner-up Miami (Fla.) by two strokes in last year's tournament. Miami's Daniela Darquea claimed individual medalist honors firing a tournament-record 207 (-9) including a tournament-low round of 65.
All teams will play 36 holes on Monday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (ET). The final round will be played on Tuesday with an 8:45 a.m. (ET) shotgun start. Live tournament scoring will be available at: www.Golfstat.com.
