CLEMSON, S.C. – College of Charleston watched as a four-run lead dissipated in the fourth inning falling to No. 23 Clemson, 13-4, at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Tuesday.
The Cougars (24-22-1) scored four runs in the top half of the fourth just to have the lead evaporate on eight consecutive Tigers hits in the home half. Clemson scored seven runs in the frame on six singles and a double.
Morgan Phillips got CofC on the board first with an RBI ground out. Tommy Richter followed with an RBI fielder's choice and Bradley Dixon drove in the third run on a single. The Cougars added another run on a double steal, Danny Wondrack scored on play.
The Tigers (32-16) plated seven runs, all with two outs in the fourth to take the lead for good. Clemson scored four runs in the sixth and a run each in the seventh and eighth.
The teams meet again on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
