WACO, Texas – Washington State extended its win streak to eight-consecutive matches defeating the College of Charleston volleyball team, 25-12, 26-24, 25-22, on the opening day of the Baylor Classic held at the Ferrell Center.
It was a first-ever meeting between the Cougars (6-4) from Charleston and Cougars (9-1) from Pullman with WSU receiving votes in the latest AVCA Coaches Top 25 Poll.

Lauren Freed (Troy, Ohio) and sophomore outside hitter
Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) combined for 22 kills. Freed and sophomore libero
McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) each had 14 digs.
Charleston fought for every point in the second and third sets, but hit .088 for the match against the nation's fifth-best defense in opponent hitting percentage. Washington State hit .267 with 41 kills on 105 attempts.
The Cougars have now won four of their last five matches. They will face host Baylor tomorrow at noon (ET) / 11 a.m. (CT) and Virginia at 6 p.m. (ET) / 5 p.m. (CT).

Seeing Double: Lauren Freed, the reigning CAA Rookie of the Week, extended her double-double streak to four-straight matches with 12 kills and 14 digs versus Washington State.
