POSTGAME QUOTES
College of Charleston Head Coach Earl Grant
On not being hung over the UNCW loss against JMU …
"We talked about it and that is was an 18-game race. This game was just as big as the last one. We wanted to keep things in perspective and make sure we prepared for the next one. We did a good job of sharing the ball and had four guys in double figures tonight. It was good to see so many guys step-up and help us. We had some guys off the bunch, who did not score in double figures, but who made some crucial plays in the middle of the game. It was a total team effort. It was good to see us come out and play well offensively as well as us defending well enough to win a game."
Â
On the contributions of Marquise Pointer which gave team lift off the bench …
"Marquise had a different identity last year. He really got out, defended hard and took what the defense gave him. He wasn't worried about scoring a lot. His situation was different, because he was on the floor a lot more and was able to get a better flow. But, I think he is starting to figure out his role on the team. How important he is to the team with the things he brings to the table, which is very significant – his toughness, defense and leadership. With him scoring 10 points, that's a huge thing for our team. It was good to see him make a couple of big threes and make his free throws today."
Â
College of Charleston Redshirt Junior Guard Joe Chealey
On the game …
"It was our next game and next opportunity to go out and play. Obviously, we were disappointed with the (UNCW) loss on Thursday. Like I said, after that game, we would have a short memory. We knew it would be a big test for us and knew we had a really good team on our home floor. We are excited to get the W tonight."
Â
College of Charleston Sophomore Guard Marquise Pointer
On his defense …
"I know for sure every night I'm going to play D. That's a big key for me on the team. I know that's my job to bring energy off of the bench. I just try to do my job, try to get into people and make them uncomfortable out there."
