Mummey's Career Night Lifts Cougars Over Dukes, 3-1

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- Senior Krissy Mummey (Hudson, Ohio) set a new career-high with 22 kills and a .667 hitting percentage to pace four Cougars in double figures, and Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) recorded a double-double to lead the College of Charleston volleyball team to its ninth straight win with a 3-1 victory over James Madison on Pep Supper Monday evening.
 
College of Charleston (21-4, 10-1 CAA) won the match by scores of 25-21, 23-25, 25-17, and 25-16 to push its win streak to a season-best nine matches – the Cougars' longest such stretch since the 2014 campaign. The Cougars recorded 64 kills, 70 digs, and 8.5 blocks to go along with a .265 hitting percentage. Charleston held James Madison (15-4, 6-4 CAA) to 44 kills, 50 digs, and a .125 attacking clip, as the Dukes posted 14 blocks.
 
Mummey led the charge at the net with a career-high 22 kills on 30 attempts for a blistering .667 hitting percentage to reclaim the CAA-lead with a .410 clip for the season. Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) added a double-double with 15 kills and 13 digs, while Lauren Freed (Troy, Ohio) just missed a double-double with 12 kills and nine digs. Beckman turned in her 11th double-double of the season with 12 digs and a campaign-best 54 assists.
 
Kennedy Madison (Evansville, Ind.) totaled 10 kills and a match-high six blocks, as Peyton Eisnaugle (Dallas, Texas) chipped in four blocks and three kills. McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) continued her climb through the program record book with 14 digs to move into ninth all-time; Logan Manusky (San Diego, Calif.) added 13 digs.
 
Bryn Recker paced the Dukes with 16 kills, 14 digs, five blocks, and a .368 hitting percentage, as M'Kaela White and Kelly Vahos added eight and seven kills, respectively. Taylor Gail and White each tallied five blocks, while Taylor Austin totaled a match-high 15 digs. Tilbe Yaglioglu and Sarah Martin dished out 19 and 18 assists, respectively.
 
The Cougars return to the court on Saturday when they host UNCW (8-15, 3-7 CAA) to close out their four-match home stand. First serve is slated for 7:00 pm.
