Cougars Head to Elon for CAA Championship Race
10/27/2017 3:49:00 PM | Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston cross country program reaches the crescendo of its conference slate this weekend, and will travel to Elon University to compete in the CAA Championships.
The women's 6K race will begin at 10 a.m., with the men's 8K following shortly afterward at 11 a.m.
The men finished fourth overall at last year's CAA championships in Delaware, which tied them for their best team-finish in program history since joining the conference in 2013. The women meanwhile finished 7th last year.
It will be the Cougars second trip to the home-turf of the Phoenix this season, having previously competed in the Elon Opener to begin the year. Both the women and men claimed 4th place finishes in that outing, which featured shorter courses than what the College will be exposed to this time around.
CofC will be racing in the hopes of finding its first All-Conference selection since Cara Butcher pulled of the feat back in 2015, when she ran a 21:08.40 6K in Mt. Pleasant to claim ninth overall.
