Cougars Claim 13th Straight Win With Sweep Of Elon

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The No. 22 (VolleyballMag.com Mid-Major Poll) College of Charleston volleyball team pushed its win streak to 13 matches on Friday evening with a sweep of Elon behind a balanced attack from Kennedy Madison (Evansville, Ind.), Lauren Freed (Troy, Ohio), and Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) in Colonial Athletic Association play.
 
College of Charleston (25-4, 14-1 CAA) won the match by scores of 25-18, 25-14, and 25-14 for its 15th sweep of the season. The Cougars recorded 42 kills, 47 digs, 13 blocks, and six service aces to go along with a .326 hitting percentage; Charleston held Elon (16-14, 5-10 CAA) to 27 kills, 36 digs, five blocks, and a .040 attacking clip.
 
Madison paced the Cougars with 11 kills, five blocks, and a blistering .769 hitting percentage after converting her first nine attempts. Rachel posted nine smashes and five digs, while Freed added 10 kills and six digs. Krissy Mummey (Hudson, Ohio) chipped in five kills, four blocks, and a .625 hitting percentage, as Jane Feddersen (Leesburg, Va.) recorded four kills and a match-high seven blocks. McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) and Logan Manusky (San Diego, Calif.) tallied 14 and 10 digs, respectively, while Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) dished out 36 assists. Rachel and Freed each notched two service aces.
 
Sydney Busa and Kam Terry led the way for Elon with nine and eight kills, respectively, as Busa narrowly missed a double-double with 11 digs. Kodi Gracia dished out 25 assists, and Terry added a match-high three service aces.
 
The Cougars will close out the regular season on Sunday at 1 pm against William and Mary, and will honor seniors Riana Brennan (Los Gatos, Calif.), Natalie Tucker (Isle of Palms, S.C.), Feddersen, and Mummey prior to first serve from TD Arena.
