CofC Edges The Citadel, 3-1, To Complete Weekend Sweep

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. --- Danny Wondrack (Wall, N.J.) drove in two runs with a double in the bottom of the first, as the College of Charleston baseball team defeated The Citadel, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon to complete a weekend sweep of the Bulldogs.
 
The victory stretches the College of Charleston's (7-4) win streak against The Citadel (3-7) to 11 games, as the Cougars scored all three of their runs in the home half of the first. Wondrack paced the offense with two of the Cougars' six base knocks, while Logan McRae (Florence, S.C.) notched his team-leading 20th RBI of the season with a single in the first. Luke Manzo (Marietta, Ga.) extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a double.
 
Evan Sisk (Chester, S.C.) got the start and allowed one run on four hits in four and one-third innings. Justin Baker (Huntersville, N.C.) tossed twoand two-thirds scoreless frames to pick up his first win of the season, while Jakob Frishmuth (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) pitched a shutout eighth. Nathan Ocker (Middletown, Pa.) pitched a perfect ninth with two strikeouts to earn his third save in three tries.
 
Taylor Cothran and J.D. Davis led the Bulldogs with two hits each, as William Kinney drove in The Citadel's lone run. Will Pillsbury made the start, allowing three runs and walking five to take the loss. Aaron Lesiak and Marlin Morris combined for four shutout innings to close out the afternoon.
 
The Cougars got off to a strong start in the first, plating three to take an early 3-0 lead on a single by McRae and a two-run double by Wondrack. The Citadel would cut the advantage to 3-1 with an RBI double by Kinney in the fourth, which scored Jonathan Sabo from first.
 
The College returns to the diamond on Tuesday when the Cougars welcome East Carolina to Patriots Point for the first of a two-game midweek set. First pitch is set for 5:00 pm.
