CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston women's tennis team hits the road for two conference matches this weekend, and will take on Elon (14-7) on Saturday before heading north for a showdown with James Madison (14-5) on Sunday. Both matches are scheduled for 10 a.m.
The Cougars will look to maintain their two-match winning streak, having defeated SC State and Newberry in dominant fashion over the past week.
CofC will meet the Phoenix for the 20th time and the Dukes for the fifth time on record. The Cougars hold a 16-3 record against Elon, and a 3-1 record against JMU. The College hosted both teams last season at Patriots Point, succumbing in each matchup by 4-3 scores.
The Phoenix is 14-7 on the season, but have split its previous four matches with wins over ECU and Barton and losses to Winthrop and Hawaii. They went 14-10 overall last year and picked up a No. 2 seed in the CAA Tournament, beating Drexel before falling to JMU. Maria Paraja leads the team in singles with a 14-6 record spread across the middle flights.
James Madison sports a 14-5 record and rides a five-match winning streak into the weekend. They made it to last year's CAA Championship match with William & Mary, but succumbed 4-1. Jona Roka sports the best singles record on the team at 14-4, while Timea Guibe holds a 11-3 mark in top flight play.
Live stats will be available for both matches.
