CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston cross country program will be racing in two different states this Saturday, and will split the squad to take place in both the Louisville Sports Commission Cross Country Classic and The Citadel's Will Wilson Invitational.
Both events will consist of 8K men's races and 5K women's races. For those racing in the Lowcountry, the women will start at 9 a.m. and the men will follow at 9:45 a.m. For those in the Bluegrass state, the women will race in the gold race at 10:15 a.m., while the men will follow in the blue race at 10:45 a.m.
The women's gold race is the fastest of the three women's races being run in Louisville, and will put the Cougars against national contenders such as No. 29 Furman, (RV) Louisville, No. 20 Minnesota, No. 25 Vanderbilt, (RV) West Virginia, and No. 18 Wisconsin.
The men's blue race is the second fastest of the three scheduled men's races in Louisville, and will pit the Cougars against several Division I rivals including Arkansas State, Austin Peay, Chattanooga, Louisville, Marquette, Memphis and Western Kentucky among others.
The Cougars that remain in the Lowcountry meanwhile will be the first to race for the College at John's Island since 2014, when the Cougars hosted the CofC Invitational.
