CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (5-9, 1-2) had its second-straight hot first quarter on Friday night, but a hot perimeter shooting night lifted Hofstra (7-7, 1-2) to the win to spoil the occasion.
• The Cougars doubled up the Pride in the first quarter by a score of 22-11, which included a 10-2 run at the very beginning of the game. Both
Darien Huff and
Tanisha Brown had six points in the period, and finished in double-digits with 10 and 12 points respectively.
•
Bri Sullivan came off the bench to have the best game of her collegiate career, scoring a personal best 17 points and seven rebounds on 8 of 14 shooting. The offensive outburst shattered her previous career-high of 11, which she set last season.
• Hofstra seized the momentum in the second quarter, outscoring CofC 23-5 to take a 34-27 lead into the locker room. The Pride took the lead with under three minutes to go in the quarter, and never relinquished it again for the rest of the game.
• The College played responsibly with the ball, only committing nine turnovers during the course of the game. However, Hofstra had the advantage in rebounding (40-30), and had a monster shooting night. Olivia Askin and Boogie Brozoski combined to go 10 of 13 from long range, and the Pride as a team shot 54% from the field.
The College stays at home this weekend, and will host the Delaware Blue Hens on Sunday at 1 p.m.
