CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (5-10, 1-3) played a strong game against Delaware (9-5, 2-1) on Sunday, but the Blue Hens pulled away late to hand CofC the 68-59 defeat.
 
• The Cougars burst out to a 14-6 lead to start the game, and finished the quarter up 20-18. Shiclasia Brown was on fire for CofC, going a perfect 6 of 6 from the field for 12 early points to spark the team early. She finished with a team-high 16 points and five assists on 8 of 13 shooting.
 
• Delaware tied the game three times in the second quarter before finally taking their first lead in the third, where things went back and forth, culminating in a 47-47 tie at the end of three. The game took a big turn in the fourth, when Shiclasia Brown was assessed a personal and a technical leading to four UD free throws, and Delaware soon ended up with a seven-point lead, which would be their largest until the final minute of the game.
 
• Bri Sullivan followed up her career-night against Hofstra with another double-digit scoring performance, scoring 11 points on 5 of 7 shooting. Tanisha Brown also finished with 11, but was hampered by early foul trouble. Darien Huff filled that void on the glass, and finished with a career-high 10 rebounds, smashing her previous high-water mark of six.
 
• The Cougars were efficient from the free throw line (8 of 11), but struggled from long range (3 of 16). Delaware won the rebounding battle 49-33, and pawed away six blocks to the College's two.
 
• Delaware head coach Natasha Adair achieved victory in her first return to TD Arena since coaching the Cougars from 2012-14. Blue Hen forward Nicole Enabosi helped make that a reality with a 21-10 double-double, adding four blocks.
 
The Cougars will hit the road next weekend, with contests against Northeastern and Hofstra on the schedule.
