Cougars Host Sixth Annual CofC Classic to Close Out Fall Schedule

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's tennis team close out their fall slate with the CofC Classic for the sixth straight season held Nov. 3-4 at Patriots Point Tennis Complex. The Cougars welcome three teams for singles and doubles action in a hidden duel format beginning on Saturday morning.
Doubles action will open the tournament, Charleston facing Coastal Carolina at 9:30 a.m. while Marshall and Winthrop will face Samford. Singles action follows between the Herd, Eagles and Chanticleers before the Cougars face the Bulldogs. Singles action will continue in the afternoon between Samford and Coastal Carolina while Charleston will close the day out against Marshall & Winthrop.
Doubles play will open Sunday with singles action following on with weather permitting.
Last Season
In Nov. 2017, Laura Arciniegas and Turner Yates combined in doubles action to be crowned flight three champions with a 3-0 record, while Sarah Jane Jones capturing the flight seven singles crown. Charleston picked up 16 wins over the three day event, nine in singles action and seven in doubles play.
Last Time Out
Lily LaBiche and Eva Nyikos finished play at the ITA Carolina Regional; Nyikos picking up a straight sets win in the consolation bracket before withdrawing through injury. Before that Charleston took 19 wins at the CSU Invitational with Nyikos and Anastasia Palaska named doubles champions and Turner Yates and Christi Woodson finishing undefeated in flight two.
