CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's tennis team (4-1) are set to play two matches this weekend, starting with a road match against Florida A&M (0-4) before they return to the Lowcountry to make their home debut against NC A&T (0-4) on Sunday.
The Cougars played Charlotte to a 4-3 victory last weekend in a match that went down to the wire. CofC won the doubles point as well as their bottom flight matches to put the advantage to 3-0, but the 49ers won three straight matches to knot things up at three all. It wasn't until Rachel McNeely fought to a 1-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory on court three that the College was able to wrap things up with the win.
Florida A&M is winless this season at 0-4. They've achieved just one point, and that was win they won doubles 2-1 against the Stetson Hatters. It will be the first time in CofC's Division I Era that they will face off against the Rattlers.
NC A&T and the Cougars were already supposed to have faced one another this season, but snowy conditions in Greensboro caused the match to be canceled. Instead, CofC will square off with the Aggies for just the third time on record, their last encounter coming in 2016. The Cougars have won each encounter to date. In their four matches this year, Nadia Hilton-Adams and Khalia Powell are the only two players to have won singles points.
Live results for the match against NC A&T will be made available at CofCStats.com. Admission to all CofC home tennis matches is free of charge.
