
Cougars Blank Florida A&M, 7-0

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The College of Charleston women's tennis team improved their record to 5-1 on the season by taking down Florida A&M, 7-0.
Senior Rachel McNeely and sophomore Anastasia Palaska won their doubles match over Mialiniaina Rakotondrazafy and Karen Machisa, 6-2, at the No. 1 line. On court three, freshman Catalina Medici and junior Sarah Zschunke came back to dispatch Adrienne Clayton and Sophia Osabouhien, 7-5, to clinch the doubles point on Zschunke's 21st birthday.
Palaska claimed the first singles point when she defeated Karen Machisa, 6-0, 6-1, at the No. 2 position. Senior Sarah Jane Jones defeated Adrienne Clayton, 6-4, 6-1, on court six to secure singles point No. 2 for CofC.
Junior Laura Arciniegas clinched the match for the Cougars when she topped Osabouhien, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 5 singles.
Junior Turner Yates was victorious over Haleigh Porter, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 3, before freshman Catalina Medici defeated Aylen Hubeaurt, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 4. McNeely finished off the match when she beat Rakotondrazafy in three sets, 6-0, 4-6, 6-1, on court one.
"It was special to see Sarah Zschunke show outstanding leadership with freshman Catalina Medici, especially on her birthday," CofC Director of Tennis Angelo Anastopoulo said. "They were down 5-3 and came back to clinch the doubles point for the Cougars. We are looking forward to our home opener tomorrow at 10 a.m. and expecting a large turnout."
CofC will return home to kick off its home schedule versus North Carolina A&T at 10 a.m. at the CofC Tennis Center at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
