| Box Score 2 DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – Both the men and women of the College of Charleston tennis programs defeated short-handed Bethune-Cookman teams on Saturday at City Island Tennis Courts.
 
The men's team started things off in their season opener against a four-man Wildcat squad. After taking the doubles point by virtue of a forfeit, CofC won the day in flight one and three in singles play. Juan Estevarena defeated Victor Bravo 6-4, 6-3 in the top billing, while Ksawery Pociej won his collegiate debut on court three by knocking off Phillip Lynch 6-4, 6-4. All told, the Cougars ended the day with a 5-2 win.
 
The women's match was next, which began with the Cougars snagging the doubles point when Anastasia Palaska and Christi Woodson edged Matea Roki and Rehanna Butt by a score of 7-6. Woodson would go on to claim a second flight 6-2, 6-4 victory over Butt.
 
Catalina Medici picked up her first flight four win as a Cougar by beating Karen Romero 6-2, 6-4. Helena Nyikos was victorious 6-4, 6-1 in flight one action, while Laura Arciniegas won her first Spring singles match in the maroon and white, defeating Phatismo Ruele in flight five to lift the Cougars to the 6-1 win.
 
The men's squad will turn things around quickly for a Sunday match on the road at Florida A&M. The women on the other hand won't play again until Tuesday, when they visit Savannah State.
