
Cougars Sink Privateers, 4-1

NEW ORLEANS, La. --- The No. 21 College of Charleston beach volleyball team swept ones through threes after splitting at fours and fives with the University of New Orleans on Wednesday to defeat the Privateers, 4-1, at the Privateer Beach Courts.
With the victory, College of Charleston improves to 7-3 on the year and run its win streak to three. New Orleans falls to 3-7 on the season. Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) and Lauren Freed (Troy, Ohio) put the Cougars in front, 1-0, with a 21-16, 21-14 win at fours, before Taylor Foley (Agoura Hills, Calif.) and Logan Manusky (San Diego, Calif.) dropped a tough 21-13, 16-21, 9-15 decision at fives.
Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) and McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) delivered a 21-19, 19-21, 15-9 victory in their season debut at ones, while Krissy Mummey (Hudson, Ohio) and Katja Ehlers (Raleigh, N.C.) won at twos, 14-21, 21-8, 15-12 to secure the deciding point for the Cougars. Kennedy Madison (Evansville, Ind.) and Riana Brennan (Los Gatos, Calif.) posted a 21-16, 24-22 victory at threes, as Britney Vallez (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) and Lauren Hollman (Union, Ky.) won at sixes, 21-7, 21-12.
The Cougars return to the sand on Saturday at the Tiger Beach Challenge, hosted by LSU in Baton Rouge, La. Charleston will take on New Orleans at 8:00 am CT, No. 18 Tulane at 11:00 am CT, and No. 20 Florida Atlantic at 3:00 pm CT on Saturday.
