CHARLESTON, S.C. – Tucker Heffron scored his second goal of the season but the College of Charleston men's soccer team were held to a 1-1 draw with Navy in Annapolis, Md., on Sunday night.
Charleston controlled the opening exchanges with
Matt Nozedar having a header saved inside five minutes.
Steven Cahill nearly got his first goal for The College in the 23
rd minute, but his effort from 20 yards flew narrowly past the left-hand post.
Nozedar again went close minutes later with an effort from the top of the box, but the Midshipmen keeper got down to push the ball round the post for a corner.
Charleston continued to press and eventually broke the deadlock just seconds from halftime.
Jake Nicholson whipped a corner in from the right with Heffron nodding into the bottom right from five yards to put CofC up 1-0.
Navy grew into the game with the second half becoming an even affair. The clearer chances continued to fall for Charleston until the Midshipmen equalized in the 70
th minute. Collin Armstrong burst through and rounded
Treston Kederer with Jacob Williams tapping in from five yards to level the score.
As the game entered the final stages, Kederer denied Navy from point blank range with the referee's whistle sending the game into overtime.
Navy continued to press with
Peter Dearle clearing the ball off the line for Charleston (1-2-1) as the end of double overtime approached, with the final whistle eventually confirming a 1-1 draw between the teams.
