The Cougars fell to Elon at home on Oct. 17 by a score of 2-1. Sophomore Hannah Farmer scored the lone goal of the match for CofC just 44 seconds into the match from an Olivia Freitas' pass. The match was very tightly contested and a back-and-forth contest. The Phoenix scored their first goal to tie the match at 1-1 just before halftime. Almost immediately after halftime, the Cougars took three consecutive shots attempting to take the lead once again, but each shot was either saved or blocked. Elon scored the game-winning goal in the 84th minute from a converted free kick. Junior Leah Deutsch nearly tied the match at 2-2 in the 90th minute but her shot landed just wide of the post.
