Tigers Outlast Cougars in Four-Set Battle

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- Lauren Freed and Brooke Harris each turned in a double-double and Logan Manusky added a match-high 26 digs to lead the way for College of Charleston as league-leading Towson preserved its unbeaten CAA record with a 3-1 win at TD Arena on Friday evening in Colonial Athletic Association play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Towson's offense combined for 64 kills and a .200 hitting percentage including 21 kills in set four.
  • Charleston won the battle at the net with 12 blocks compared to 10 for the Tigers.
  • The Tigers placed four players in double figures led by Lydia Wiers and Olivia Finckel with 14 kills each.
  • Freed paced the Cougars with her 36th career double-double totaling 15 digs and a match-high 15 kills.
COUGAR OF THE MATCH
Junior libero Logan Manusky continued her superb season with a match-high 26 digs to mark her ninth 20-dig performance of the season. She posted 10 digs in the second frame and seven in the third.
 
NOTABLES
  • Charleston posted eight of its 12 blocks in the fourth set including four each for Emma Falk and Peyton Eisnaugle.
  • Harris posted her fourth double-double of the season with 22 assists and 10 digs.
  • Mandy Napierala chipped in 10 kills with six in the second and four in the fourth.
  • Freed put down 10 of her match-high 15 kills in the first and fourth sets with five in each frame.
  • Tori Carpenter nearly recorded a double-double with 18 assists and eight digs.
  • Eisnaugle paced the Cougars with six blocks as Falk added four.
  • Freshman Logan Pope contributed six kills – three in the fourth set – to go along with a season-high three blocks.
  • The Cougars put down 18 of their 44 kills in their 27-25 second-set win

The Cougars host Northeastern on Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. Head coach Jason Kepner and the Cougars will honor seniors Kayla Demari, Eisnaugle, Freed and Napierala prior to first serve.
