Cougars Set to Host Tigers, Huskies on Alumni and Senior Weekend

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- College of Charleston will host Towson and Northeastern for two of its final three home matches this weekend welcoming the league-leading Tigers to TD Arena on Friday at 6:00 p.m. followed by a 7:00 p.m. matchup with Northeastern on Saturday evening. The Cougars will honor their 2019 senior class prior to first serve against Northeastern on Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT
Seniors Lauren Freed and Mandy Napierala each put down a match-high 16 kills and freshman Logan Pope added 10 to pace the Cougars to a 3-1 win at Elon last Sunday. Freed became the 10th player in program history to record 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career as the Cougars combined for 58 kills and held the Phoenix to a .176 hitting percentage.
THE OPPONENT
Towson comes into Friday's match with a 22-2 overall record and leads the CAA with an unblemished 12-0 mark against league opponents. The Tigers own the nation's sixth-best opponent hitting percentage (.137) and rank 42nd in RPI. Lydia Wiers leads the CAA and ranks seventh nationally in hitting percentage (.430) while Marrisa Wonders is 12th in the nation in assists per set (11.36).
Northeastern enters the weekend with a 12-12 overall record and a 6-6 mark in CAA play. The Huskies rank third in the league in hitting percentage (.222) and kills per set (12.85). Natalie Sholin owns the CAA's fourth-best hitting percentage (.367) while Samantha Shope is tied for second in service aces per set (0.38).

- The Cougars split with William & Mary and Elon on the road last weekend to stay in the hunt for a berth in the CAA Championship.
- Senior Mandy Napierala has been on a tear over the last five matches averaging a team-high 3.70 kills per set. The Rochester, N.Y. native posted back-to-back 20-kill performances against James Madison and Delaware, including a match-and career-high 22 against JMU, in late October.
- Fellow senior Lauren Freedreached a career and program milestone in last Sunday's win at Elon, recording her 1,000th kill to become the 10th player in school history to notch both 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career.
- Junior Logan Manusky has been superb over the last five matches averaging 5.65 digs per set and collected her first career CAA Defensive Player of the Week nod on Oct. 28. The San Diego native became the 22nd player in program history to reach the 1,000 career dig mark on Oct. 27 with a 25-dig performance against Delaware.
- Freshman Logan Pope delivered her best performance to date in Sunday's win over Elon registering 10 kills on 22 swings while adding a pair of blocks.
- Four players have recorded 10 or blocks in the Cougars' last five matches led by Emma Falk and Claire Campbell with 17 and 15 respectively. Peyton Eisnaugle has collected 12 stuffs in that span followed by Molly Russell with 10.
- Head Coach Jason Kepner, the Cougars' all-time wins leader, needs six victories to reach the 300-mark for his career.
