Making His Mark
Senior transfer
Chaz Davey wasted little time in getting off the mark at The College, driving in a team-high six runs with two doubles and a home run in the Cougars' season-opening sweep of UNC Asheville. The North Augusta, S.C. native also scored five runs.
Relieving the Stress
The Cougars sent eight different relievers to the mound on the season's opening weekend as part of a new-look bullpen that Coach Holbrook hopes will have much greater depth than a season ago. CofC's bullpen combined for a 2-0 record, a 1.06 earned run average, 21 strikeouts, and only four walks in 17 innings of work.
Sweeping Start
The Cougars opened the season with a series sweep for the second straight season and the fifth time in the last 10 years after outscoring UNC Asheville, 27-8, over the weekend.
Scrapbook Moments
A trio of freshman marked their collegiate debuts with some memorable moments over the weekend.
Tanner McCallister collected a hit in his first collegiate at-bat as a pinch-hitter on Saturday, with
McLendon Sears replicating the feat on Sunday.
Jared Kirven drove in a run with his first career hit on Sunday as well.
