CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston baseball team renews its age-old rivalry with in-state foe and nationally ranked Coastal Carolina on Wednesday afternoon when the Cougars welcome the 11
th-ranked Chanticleers to Patriots Point. First pitch is slated for 4:00 p.m.
Game Preview
The Cougars come into Wednesday's game with a 6-2 overall record following a Tuesday setback to Georgia Southern. The Chanticleers enter the week with a 7-1 record after defeating Michigan State twice and Kent State once at home over the weekend.
Scouting Coastal Carolina
Coastal Carolina owns a 7-1 overall mark for the season after dropping its first game of the season to NC State, 7-6, in 11 innings on Sunday. The Chanticleers rank fifth in the nation with 21 doubles, while sporting the nation's eighth-best batting average (.340).
Parker Chavers leads Coastal with four home runs and 15 RBIs, which both rank among the nation's top 10 hitters. Anthony Veneziano paces the pitching staff with a 2-0 record and a 1.80 ERA in two starts.
