CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston baseball team will look to rebound from a series setback to Elon over the weekend with a pair of midweek matchups against The Citadel and Charleston Southern on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. First pitch for both games is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Patriots Point.
 
Midweek Preview
The Cougars will look to bounce back with match-ups against Lowcountry foes The Citadel and Charleston Southern on Tuesday and Wednesday after dropping two-of-three to CAA rival Elon over the weekend.
 
Scouting The Citadel
The Citadel enters the week with a 9-15 overall record after taking two of three from VMI over the weekend. The Bulldogs are batting only .227 as a team this season, while holding opponents to a .248 clip at the plate.
 
Ryan McCarthy leads the Bulldogs with 17 RBI while Tyler Corbitt is batting .319 with nine doubles and 12 RBI. Ben Peden has accounted for three of the Bulldogs' five home runs this season. Alex Bialakis will make his first start of the season on Tuesday, and carries a 3.98 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 20.1 innings over 14 relief appearances.
 
The Citadel Series History
Charleston leads the all-time series with The Citadel, 50-41. The Cougars have won the last 12 meetings in the series dating back to the 2014 season. The Citadel's last win in the series came on March 8, 2014 by a score of 5-4.
 
Scouting Charleston Southern
Charleston Southern carries an 8-18 overall record into the week following a series sweep at the hands of Radford this past weekend. The Bucs are batting .240 as a team this season with 16 home runs.
 
Ryan Stoudemire leads Charleston Southern with five home runs, 15 RBI, and a .282 batting average. Freshman Max Ryerson has accounted for two homers and 13 RBI in 44 at-bats.
 
Charleston Southern Series History
The Cougars own a 55-17 advantage in the all-time series with Charleston Southern dating back to 1991. Charleston has won 11 of the last 13 games in the series after the Bucs defeated the Cougars, 9-1, at CSU on March 12.
 
Last Time Out
Elon edged the Cougars, 2-1, in both teams' opening CAA series after the Phoenix escaped with an 8-6 win in Sunday's rubber match. The Phoenix scored three in the eighth after the Cougars had battled back from a 4-0 first-inning deficit to take a 6-5 lead in the sixth.
 
Climbing the Ladder
Head Coach Chad Holbrook picked up his 250th career victory on Friday, as the Cougars battled back from a 1-0 deficit to snatch a 3-1 series-opening win over Elon. Holbrook stands at 250-135 overall in his career, and 50-29 at The College.
 
Hunting for Runs
Senior Clay Hunt has made the most of his opportunities in the batting order over the last several games, going 5-for-12 with a double, one home run, and two RBI. The 5-foot-10 third baseman went 2-for-4 against Clemson last Wednesday, and kick-started the Cougar comeback on Sunday with a two-run homer in the first.
 
Masterful McLarty
Junior Griffin McLarty has been superb over his last two starts, allowing only one run on eight hits and striking out 16 in 14 innings. The Buckner, Ky. native has a quality start in three of his last four outings, and currently leads the pitching staff in ERA (1.88), strikeouts (42), and innings pitched (38.1).
 
Awakening Bats
The Cougars' bats began to show signs of life in Sunday's 8-6 setback to Elon after totaling 12 runs in CofC's previous six games. Danny Wondrack, Clay Hunt, and Harrison Hawkins each hit a home run, as the Cougars pushed across six runs on nine hits and nearly completed their 11th comeback win of the season.
