CHARLESTON, S.C. – A late senior night rally from the College of Charleston women's basketball team fell short as UNCW took a 66-62 victory on Friday evening. Four Cougars hit double-digits scoring,
Darien Huff closing out her final game at TD Arena with 13 points and seven rebounds,
Bri Sullivan finishing her final regular season matchup with three rebounds.
Tyler Collins and Huff hit threes to open the game, Huff knocking down a step-back jumper to give The College an early 8-0 lead.
The teams exchanged baskets through the first, the Cougars shooting 47% with Perkins leads all scorers with six from the bench.
Ericka Broughton added a quick four from the bench in the second, Charleston keeping a five-point advantage at the midway mark of the quarter until the Seahawks used an 8-0 burst to re-take the lead heading into half-time.
The teams continued to go back and forth through the third. Huff became the first Cougar in double-figures with a jumper,
Cailin Dorsey adding five from the bench with Collins hitting nine points with her second trey. The Seahawks then using an 8-0 burst to re-take a 48-45 lead heading into the final quarter, the lead becoming six early in the final stretch.
A 6-0 run deep in the fourth from Charleston pulled them within a basket.
Arynn Eady getting the 'and-one' to cut the Seahawks lead to three, Dorsey knocking down a key three-point basket to send the Charleston bench crazy and pull the Cougars within two with 30 seconds left.
UNCW knocked down one of two free throws in the final seconds, Charleston failing to convert out of the timeout with the Seahawks pulling down the rebound and icing the game from the free-throw line.
