
Beckman Makes History in Pair of Saturday Sweeps

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. --- The College of Charleston beach volleyball team pushed its unblemished season start to seven matches with a pair of 5-0 sweeps over Texas A&M Kingsville and Huntingdon on Saturday at the Creekside Tennis and Swim Club, as senior Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) became the program's all-time wins leader.

The Cougars dropped one set at three's in a 5-0 sweep of Texas A&M Kingsville to start the day. Kennedy Madison (Evansville, Ind.) and Lauren Freed (Troy, Ohio) pushed their record at one's to 6-0 with a 21-13, 21-14 victory, while Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) and McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) won 21-16, 21-15 at two's.
Mandy Napierala (Rochester, N.Y.) and Amani Dunston (Agoura, Calif.) came away with a 21-15, 18-21, 17-15 win at three's. Beckman and Logan Manusky (San Diego, Calif.) posted a 21-13, 21-10 victory at four's to lift Beckman past former Cougar Catey Warren into first all-time in wins. Taylor Foley (Agoura Hills, Calif.) and Katja Ehlers (Raleigh, N.C.) cruised to a 21-15, 21-14 victory at five's, while Sky Benjamin (Easley, S.C.) and Sylvia Duggan (Charlotte, N.C.) won at sixes, 21-11, 21-11.

Charleston picked up its fourth sweep of the weekend with a 5-0 win over Huntingdon in the final match of the day. Madison and Freed coasted to a 21-6, 21-11 victory at one's, while Rachel and Rhodes won both sets by a score of 21-12 in a 2-0 decision.
Napierala and Dunston made quick work of a 21-11, 21-5 win at three's, and the duo of Foley and Ehlers won at four's by scores of 21-10 and 21-8. Benjamin and Meghan Murphy (Orange, Calif.) posted a 21-16, 21-16 victory at five's, as Megan Morris (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) and Ella Ridinger (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) won at sixes by scores of 21-5 and 21-3.
The Cougars will close out the weekend with a 2:00 p.m. match against Carson-Newman on Sunday afternoon.
