CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's golf team looks to defend its title as the 2019 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golf Championship gets underway on April 12-14 at The Reserve Club at St. James Plantation in Southport, N.C.
The conference's automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship will be awarded to the team champion, which will come on Championship Sunday after the culmination of 54 holes on the par-72, 6,103-yard Reserve Course layout.
The Cougars are the top seed in the tournament and are led by juniors Anna-Theresa Rottluff (Dusseldorf, Germany) and 2018 CAA All-Tournament Team selection Victoria Huskey (Greenville, S.C.). Last year, CofC beat Delaware by 10 strokes to capture its third CAA title under head coach Jamie Futrell.
Joining Rottluff and Huskey in the Cougars' starting lineup this weekend is sophomore Jodee Tindal (Rock Hill, S.C.), junior Savanah Goodman (Easley, S.C.) and sophomore Clarissa von Stosch (Kassel, Germany).
"St. James has been good to us over the years," Futrell said. "We look to continue our success here at St. James into this year's championship. We've had a great year and look forward to competing for another championship."
During the regular season, the Cougars made six Top 5 finishes including a tournament win in the fall at the Palmetto Intercollegiate and tying for fourth at the Briar's Creek Invitational – their second to last tournament of the spring. They are currently ranked No. 64 in the nation in the latest Golfstat.com Rankings.
The Cougars will be paired with UNCW and Delaware in tomorrow's first round and tee-off the No. 1 beginning at 9:40 a.m. (ET). Live tournament scoring will be available at: www.Golfstat.com
