CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston Women's Soccer will open up CAA play with a matchup against Delaware on Thursday, Sept. 26 with kick-off scheduled for 7 p.m. at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant, S.C.
Last Outing
CofC won its third consecutive match in a 1-0 victory over Jacksonville in extra time. The Cougars put on a strong offensive outing, taking a season-high 16 shots in just the first half. CofC finished with 23 shots, 10 of those registering on goal. Freshman Olivia Freitas scored the game-winner in the third minute of extra time. This marked her second goal of the season.
The Opponent
Delaware finished the 2018 season with an overall record of 4-12-2 and a 3-5-1 record in CAA play. This season, the Blue Hens have logged a 5-4 overall record. Delaware has gotten wins over Lehigh, Lafayette College, Richmond, Liberty and Seaton Hall, outscoring its opponents 10-1 in those five matches. Head Coach is in the midst of his third season at the helm of the program. Alexis Montgomery, team-high three goals, and Jessica Kennett, two goals and team-high three assists, lead the way for the Blue Hens. Overall, Delaware bolsters eight goal scorers on its roster, four of them scoring two or more.
