CHARLESTON, S.C. --- With its non-conference slate now concluded, the College of Charleston volleyball team begins its 2019 Colonial Athletic Association schedule this weekend with a trip to James Madison on Saturday and Delaware on Monday.
THE OPPONENTS
James Madison carries a 7-4 record overall record this season and opened its CAA slate with a straight-set victory over UNCW on Thursday. The Dukes rank second in the conference and 46th nationally in blocks per set (2.45) while also ranking second in the CAA in opponent hitting percentage (.193). Freshman Sophia Davis entered the week ranked ninth in the nation with a .470 hitting percentage.
Delaware is 8-3 so far this season after going 3-0 at the UIW Cardinal Classic with wins over Niagara, Incarnate Word and Northern Illinois. The Blue Hens rank 12th in the nation with 1.95 service aces per set and are second in the CAA with a .265 hitting percentage. Senior Maria Bellinger leads the conference and ranks 28th nationally with an average of 4.41 kills per set.

NOTABLES
- The Cougars went 1-2 last weekend at the Hampton Inn Charleston/West Ashley CofC Invitational with a straight-set victory over Charleston Southern on Friday.
- A trio of Cougars are averaging more than 2.00 kills per set over the last five matches including a team-leading 2.94 clip for Lauren Freed.
- Senior Peyton Eisnaugle is on a tear over the last five matches averaging 2.82 kills per set while hitting a blistering .477. The 6-foot-1 middle blocker is also averaging a team-high 0.94 blocks per frame in that span.
- Junior Logan Manusky has been a stalwart on the back row over the last five matches averaging a squad-best 5.29 digs per set. She posted 21 digs in the Cougars' sweep of The Citadel on Sept. 17.
- Redshirt freshman Claire Campbell is hitting .375 over the last five matches with 23 kills (1.44/set) and 13 blocks (0.81/set). She put together perhaps her best performance as a Cougar with eight kills on 13 swings without an error and added five blocks against Charleston Southern.
- Freed has been lethal from behind the service line so far this season with 18 aces through 12 matches. Her average of 0.42 aces per set ranks third in the CAA and among the national leaders.
- The Cougars' blocking corps has put on a show over the first month of the season with an average of 2.21 blocks per set, which ranks third in the CAA.
- Kepner, the Cougars' all-time wins leader, needs nine victories to reach the 300-mark for his career.
- Charleston is picked third in the CAA Preseason Poll behind Hofstra and preseason favorite James Madison.
