Men's Tennis Opens Up Spring Season With Road Matchup Against Miami

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's tennis team kick off the 2020 campaign with a road matchup against Miami (Fla.) on Friday, Jan. 17 at noon.

Charleston finished the 2019 campaign on with an overall record of 18-5 and a 1-2 record in CAA play. The College graduated All-CAA Singles First Team member Benedikt Henning last season but return Henning's doubles partner, sophomore Johnny Wang, who earned All-CAA Doubles Second Team honors in 2019.
Two new faces join the team in the 2019 season in freshmen Zachary Theodossiou and Noah Borges. Borges had a great showing in the fall as he grabbed a singles flight crown in the Charleston Invitational.
The Cougars took place in four fall tournaments. Sophomore Ben Husum earning the Singles B Flight crown after taking down teammate and fellow sophomore Robby Krick in the Georgia Southern Championships, while junior Karl Mosterd earned a singles flight crown with fellow teammate Borges in the Charleston Invitational.

The Hurricanes finished the 2019 season with a 17-11 overall record and a 7-5 record in ACC play. This marks only the second meeting between the two programs, with the only matchup played ending in a 7-0 win for the Hurricanes.
Head Coach Aljosa Piric is in the midst of his fourth year at the helm of the program. The team is led by the nation's ninth-ranked doubles pair in Benjamin Hannestad and Franco Aubone and the No. 63 ranked singles player in Adria Soriano Barrera.
