CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston will play a 24-game regular season including a unique CAA slate that features a pair of weekend games against each conference opponent.
The Cougars begin the season on Nov. 25 at South Carolina, and the home opener is set for Nov. 29 against Wofford. CofC also has home contests against Winthrop on Dec. 8 and NC Wesleyan three days later and play at Clemson on Dec. 6 and NC Central on Dec. 19.
The CAA schedule gets underway on Jan. 2-3 with a pair of home games against Delaware. The Cougars also have home conference weekends against William & Mary (Jan. 23-24), James Madison (Jan. 30-31) and Hofstra (Feb. 20-21).
CofC hits the road Jan. 9-10 at Drexel, Jan. 16-17 at Northeastern, Feb. 6-7 at Towson and Feb. 13-14 at Elon. The Cougars will play their travel partner, UNCW, at TD Arena on Feb. 26 and in Wilmington on Feb. 28 to conclude the regular season.
All conference home games will tip off at 1 p.m. with the exception of the UNCW game at 7 p.m. Other home game times are 1 p.m. against Wofford, 7 p.m. against Winthrop and 4 p.m. against NC Wesleyan. There will not be an admission charge for women's basketball games at TD Arena this season.
CofC has received approval from the South Carolina Department of Commerce to welcome spectators to TD Arena but will be reduced to 30 percent capacity. Additional game day policies will be consistent with guidance from local, state, federal and College of Charleston officials.
"Although the schedule has been modified and the health and safety of our players remains the number one priority, we are fortunate to be playing basketball this season," said head coach Robin Harmony. "I look forward to seeing what our team will accomplish in our second season."
In Harmony's first year, the Cougars improved their win total from seven to 13 while doubling their CAA victories from three to six. The team returns eight of 11 women who played in 10 or more games and six of seven who started at least 11 times. The group of returning players accounted for 78.5 percent of the scoring a year ago.
"Although we have experience in some key spots, we still have a young team," said Harmony. "Our top six returning scorers include two sophomores and four juniors, and we added six talented freshmen to our roster."
