CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team returns to TD Arena for a matchup with Drexel Friday night.

OPENING TIP — CofC, the preseason Coastal Athletic Association favorites, is 4-0 in CAA play and off to the best start in CAA play in program history. The team is 12-3 overall and finished non-conference play 8-3 with quality wins at Quinnipiac (a top-30 mid-major program) and at Florida State.
The Cougars' win over the Seminoles gave them a win over a Power 4 school for the second consecutive year. It was also Charleston's first victory over an ACC school since CofC defeated Clemson in 2009.
The Cougars are currently ranked 12th in the most recent College Insider Mid-Major top-25 rankings.
CofC returns two starters from last years WNIT Super 16 squad, including the reigning CAA Player of the Year in Taryn Barbot.
Charleston returns six key contributors from last year's team, while adding seven newcomers, including two starting transfers in Tyja Beans (Western Carolina), Grace Ezebilo (Tyler Junior College).
The 2024-25 Charleston women's basketball team set a record for the most wins in the program's Division I era with 25. Charleston also earned its first Power 4 win since 2009 with a 68-62 victory over Northwestern at the Hawk Classic on December 20, 2024.

AMONG THE NCAA — The Cougars currently have two players who are in the top-10 in the nation in their respective categories. Taylor Barbot is one of only 18 players in the country to record a triple-double and is also 7th in the nation in assists per game (7.5). Grace Ezebilo is 5th in the nation in rebounds per game (11.7) and is also in the top-20 in total rebounds (175), defensive boards per game (7.5) and offensive rebounds per game (4.1). Additionally, Taylor Barbot is also in the top-20 in total assists (112).
As a team, Charleston is in the top-20 in the country in offensive rebounds per game (16.9) and total rebounds per game (43.8).

LAST TIME OUT — Powered by the third best shooting performance in program history, the College of Charleston women's basketball team (12-3, 4-0) earned an 88-75 road win at Hampton (7-8, 1-2) at the Convocation Center Sunday afternoon.
The January 25th home game against N.C. A&T will serve as the main celebratory night and commemorate the 50 years of the program's existence. The 1974-75 Charleston women's basketball team, which was the first-ever varsity squad, will be honored at the game.
All throughout the entire 2025-26 campaign, feature stories on past Cougar greats and influential players will be shared on the College of Charleston official athletics website at cofcsports.com.
SCOUTING THE DRAGONS — Drexel opened CAA play 0-2 with losses to Campbell and Stony Brook before routing Hofstra 67-38 to improve to 1-2 in CAA play. The Dragons are 8-6 overall and 2-4 on the road.
The Dragons are led by graduate guard Amaris Baker who made the All-CAA Preseason Second Team. Baker is averaging 19.9 points and 3.9 rebounds per contest. Other double-digit scorers for Drexel include junior guard Laine Mcgurk (11.9) and junior forward Deja Evans (10.3). Mcgurk was the CAA Player of the Week on November 10th and Evans made the All-CAA Preaseason Honorable Mention squad.
Drexel was picked 2nd in the CAA Preseason Poll.

THE HARMONY FILE — The 2025-26 campaign is Robin Harmony's seventh as the head coach at College of Charleston. Harmony was named the program's eighth head coach on April 19, 2019 and has earned 107 wins at CofC, including back-to-back 20 win seasons at the helm.
In her most recent season, Harmony led the Cougars to their winningest season in D1 program history with 25 wins. The Cougars advanced to the semifinals of the CAA conference tournament and the Super 16 in the WNIT after earning their first postseason victory ever on their home court.

MTEs — Charleston went 1-1 at the Big Easy Classic in New Orleans, La. CofC defeated New Mexico State 72-42 Thanksgiving Day before falling to High Point 70-59 – a top-30 mid-major program – that Saturday.
CofC also split its contests at the Puerto Rico Clasico, falling 61-67 to Cleveland State before dominating UPR Mayaguez 114-40 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

- Still holding a double-digit advantage at the start of the second quarter, CofC opened the period on a 12-4 spurt to take a 38-20 advantage with 4:51 left in the half.
- The squads traded buckets for the remainder of the half as Charleston took a 48-31 edge into the locker room.
- Opening the second half where they left off, the Cougars scored 18 points by the third quarter media timeout as they increased their lead to 23 (66-43).
- CofC held a 70-53 advantage with 10 minutes to play.
- Hampton went on a 6-0 run to make it a 13 point game (79-66) in favor of Charleston with 5:03 to play.
- In the final five minutes, the Pirates came within 11, but the Cougars went on to win the contest 88-75 as they improved to 4-0 in conference play for the first time since the 2009-10 season.

- Vertical IDs will not be accepted at sales locations regardless of the individual's age.
- All ID checks will be handled directly by our Aramark concession partners at each stand. EPI staff will no longer check ID's or provide wristbands.
- No more than two (2) alcoholic beverages may be sold or served per transaction.
WHAT TO EXPECT — Fans will enter TD Arena at the Meeting Street entrance.
- Once inside, fans will be asked to take their belongings out of their pockets and place them in a bin. This includes phone, wallet, keys, etc.
- If you bring a bag compliant with the Clear Bag policy, your items can be placed in the bag.
- EPI security staff will provide guidance on when to walk through the magnetometer and assist in retrieving your belongings after you clear through the magnetometer.
